A-LE-LU-JA

Project | Tape & Performance (1989)

is a composition for tape and voice. The fixed musica structure of the tape forms the basis of the vocal improvisation. The piece is based on four tetrachords, the so called Harmonica Perfecta Maxima with the fundamental f sharp.

As each selection of the piece begins, a new tetrachord is introduced, so that in the A- section there is only one tetrachord, while in the JA- section the whole scale is used in the bass figure.

The rhythmical structures are programmed with the sequnecer Steinberg 3. All sounds except the synth bass in the JA- part are acoustic material, either sampled or performed live.

The piece is a live performance combining the stiff structure of the tape with a free spontanious vocal improvisation.
